I started my career in the wildlife filmmaking industry in 2008. After studying visual communication at the Art Academy Maastricht, I specialized in filming animals at the renowned production company Light & Shadow. During numerous shoots for the award-winning series "Wild Amazon" (National Geographic, Animal Planet, NDR Naturfilm), I gathered profound camera- and expedition-experience in the tropics.
Since 2011 I am carrying out professional camerawork as a freelance cameraman for various award-winning TV-productions such as "Brazil – a natural history" (National Geographic, Terra Mater), "Wild Germany" (NDR Naturfilm), "The Greater- and The Lesser Caucasus" (NDR Naturfilm, WDR, WDR, CR1, Terra Mater) and "The Wild Andes" (National Geographic, Smithonian, WDR). I am experienced in shooting classic long-lense images aswell as macro-sequences, moving timelapses and super slowmotion. I am capable of climbing- and working on trees and filming under water. During my recent project, I specialized in setting up Tshed 4K camera trap systems. I speak German, English, Spanish, Portuguese and Dutch.
Besides my camera-work, I take responsibility in planning and directing sequneces for productions, such as "Wild Portugal" (WDR, NDR Naturfilm) or "Magic Moments" (WDR, NDR Naturfilm). Since 2015 I am regularly producing and directing educational movies for the German Institute of Film in Science, teaching students the basics of biology as well as inspiring environmental conservation. 2021 I finished my first self-produced wildlife TV-production "Coming Home" together with Doclights GmbH for NDR, SWR, MDR and Arte. In my work as a cameraman as well as a director, I see great importance in dramaturgical storytelling and a visual closeness to the animal protagonists.
Over the years I could be part of many productions, allowing me to capture the fascinating nature that surrounds us. Check out the full list of my work by clicking the button.
